Introduction
  • Nature appreciation & community bonds

The project investigates the restorative (health beneficial) qualities of exposure to natural environments and how these can be implemented in urban settings to improve overall urban health and community belonging.

It is situated on the grounds of the former Veterinary College at Adamstuen, Oslo. The program focuses on transforming the existing boiler building at the center of the site, integrating natural atmospheres and sensory gardens with community programs, both existing and proposed, to create a vibrant environment for the future.

The project introduces a new library and educational facilities centered around gardening. The library will be connected to the municipality-planned educational program within the old Veterinary building.

The gardening program builds on the site’s educational history while continuing the existing parcel gardening community. The proposal aims to minimize barriers to participation, encouraging engagement from groups currently not involved in physical activities or nature appreciation through both passive and active exposure in the sensory gardens.
