Introduction
  • Kindergartens that foster belonging in urban communities

My diploma project explores a new way of designing kindergartens, contrasting it with current solutions. The project focuses on a cluster of small kindergartens instead of an average-sized kindergarten in Bergen.

This project’s goal is to create a new everyday life with less stress for parents and kids growing up in the city. It aligns with Bergen municipality’s goals to create a walkable city (Gåbyen) with short distances to the nearest kindergarten, reducing stress and making drop-off and pick-up at kindergartens a more important part of daily routines. Additionally, it aims to establish new landmarks that provide children with new experiences and the opportunity to become better acquainted with their neighbourhood, resulting in a greater sense of safety and confidence as they grow up.
