On 1 September 2026 at 12 o’clock, exactly 40 years will have passed since BAS first opened its doors. To celebrate, we will be sharing congratulations, cake and a performance by Kurt Johannessen.

Kurt has been part of BAS since 1987, when he began teaching at the school. Through his performances and books, he has explored how simple actions, gestures and ideas can open up new ways of experiencing and understanding space. His work has helped shape BAS’s approach to architecture as something that emerges through the relationships between body, action and the spaces we create together.
